Why must this whole love thing be so extremely complicated?

Why is it that everytime I fall in love, I fall for a man who doesn't want to let himself fall back? The first time around I convinced myself that it was all his fault. But now as I'm enduring the heartbreak of yet another smothered love I'm beginning to believe that really the problem here is just me.
